I test using Median Neurodynamic Test 2 ala Shacklock and will frequently find the involved arm quite "excited." Contralateral neural slides and glides can be an effective way to reduce some of the ipsilateral stiffness. Give it a try.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767271676292515233.post-37237876580094598112008-08-08T07:23:00.000-05:002008-08-08T07:23:00.000-05:00I am 6 weeks post op for a grade 3 AC separation a...I am 6 weeks post op for a grade 3 AC separation and a complete rotator cuff tear occurring during a motorcycle accident.(2 incisions and an arthroscopy) I was placed in physical therapy after 5 days. I have progressed a lot. I am now off passive exercises and am doing stretches followed by band exercises and 1 lb weight rotations. My hand however does not seem to have the strength and feels a little stiff when I clench it. Do you have an opinion on this? Thank you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767271676292515233.post-67043406943701151832008-07-18T18:13:00.000-05:002008-07-18T18:13:00.000-05:00First off. Unfortunately, you need to discuss these issues with your physical therapist and/or your surgeon.

It wouldn't be appropriate for me (or any medical professional) to recommend a specific course of action without a detailed history of the problem along with a good physical exam of your shoulder. I would recommend opening an honest dialogue with your providers to determine the best choices for your specific case. At six weeks post-op from rotator cuff repair and decompression, I found your post when I googled "stiffness after PT." I was distressed that after my exercise sessions my shoulder seems to tighten up a lot. Reading this post made me feel a bit better. Thank you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
